About KISHTWAR
Kishtwar is also known as the "Land of Kishat rishi, Sapphire and Saffron", as kishat rishi was the saint who lived here and there is mine a huge mine of Sapphire in Paddar area and rich cultivation of Saffron in Pochhal area in Kishtwar district
District kishtwar is carved out in the year 2007 and it started fuctioning as independent admistrative unit on 01-04-2007.

The National Park in KISHTWAR attracts wildlife and nature enthusians.

To protect snow leopards [endagered]. Surrounding bythe rinny river to north Kibar nala catchment by south ,main divide of the great himalayas in the east and marwar river in west.

Important trees species >Chilgoza pine ,himalyan cedar ,persian walnut , oak etc
Herbs > purple false brome , anemone , mugwort , sundrop etc
Fauna > musk deer ,himalayan black and grown bear hangul ,etc
50 species of birds are found here includes Himalayan monal,bearded vulture ,white cheeked bulbul,etc
